A Visit to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art sponsored by Methodist Church of Shell Knob

Dale Chihuly, since 1975 has created drawings on cylindrical vessels inspired by Native American textiles, like the trade blanket collection seen in this exhibition.  Colorful glass threads are carefully laid out in an intricate design and fused onto the vessel when it is in its molten stage.  The drawings and shapes on the walls here are his “pickup” drawings.  The inside exhibit at Crystal Bridges, features Dale Chihuly’s work with colorful glass bowls, shapes, leaves, and a plethora of shapes and colors.  If you haven’t visited Crystal Bridges in Bentonville, AR. this is one of the greatest exhibits they have sponsored.  Go early, they open at 10 am, and enjoy the outside glass exhibits and then take in the air conditioned display inside.  Cost is a reasonable $20 dollars and lunch at the cafe, Eleven.  It is moderately priced with hamburgers, etc for under $10. dollars.
