Jessica Goben has been dancing since she was two years old.  The only child of Ginger and Jeff Goben of Joplin, Missouri, she has worked hard to develop a talent for dance that she wants to make life long. She won first place in the  United Country Western Dance Council World Competition at Nashville in January 2010 when she was eighteen.  This weekend saw her challenge 6 other contestants at the UCWDC event held in New Orleans where she danced away with another first place.  Her dance competition consisted of dancing the Triple Two-Step, Polka, Nightclub, Cha-Cha, Waltz, Two-step, East Coast Swing, and West Coast Swing. “Dancing for six hours can be a real challenge but Jessica has stamina and  a real  talent when it comes to competing,” her pro-am partner, Sloane Hansen of Ft. Worth, Texas offered.  “Her background as a dance student in ballet, jazz, and pointe help her excel in the Country Western arena and I am privileged to be her professional partner, ” Sloane Hansen added.
Jessica will be attending Missouri State University at Springfield on a Dean’s Scholarship this fall. Jessica Goben is the grand-daughter of Paula Andersen, local writer and retired teacher, of Shell Knob, Missouri.
