Ralph Alan Carr, Sr.
Ralph Alan Carr, 95, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 in Evansville, Indiana. Ralph was born in Mishawaka, Indiana on June 6, 1922. He was a 1939 graduate of Central High School in Evansville, Indiana and served in the United States Coast Guard during WWII. Ralph is survived by his sons, Robert A. Carr and his wife JoAnn, of Stem, NC, Thomas E. Carr and his wife Jamie, of Evansville, Indiana, Ralph Alan Carr, Jr. and his wife Melissa, of Evansville, Indiana and Jon C. Carr and his wife Jennifer, of Wichita, Kansas; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Jeane (Montgomery) Carr; and a brother, Earl A. Carr, Jr.
Ralph and Jeane moved to Shell Knob in 1989 and became actively involved in the community. Ralph held positions on the board of the Shell Knob Community Center, was actively involved in the Central Community United Methodist Church and was one of the initial leaders involved in the development of the Shell Knob Senior Center. Ralph enjoyed playing bridge with friends at the Community Center, the VFW, or wherever friends gathered to play.
Ralph loved the water and enjoyed boating and waterskiing. He last skied on his 85th birthday. He loved his family and lived for family visits. He will always be remembered for his quick wit, jokes, funny stories and jingles that spanned 70 plus years.
A memorial service will be held at Central Community United Methodist Church, March 17 at 11:00AM in Shell Knob, MO under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established with the Shell Knob Senior Center.
